From Wednesday, May 3 to Friday, May 5, 2023, Macfrut at Rimini Expo Centre will be the world capital of the blueberry, the symbolic fruit of this edition. Ser.mac could not miss the appointment as an exhibitor: the Italian company, which has specialized for more than 30 years in the design and production of processing lines for fruit and vegetables, will also take this opportunity to continue its path of worldwide presence and growth.

In the last two years, the consumption of small fruits and vegetables such as berries has increased exponentially. The evolution of purchases of this category of fruits is evident: in Italy alone we have gone from about 6,000 tons in 2016 to 16,000 in the recent 2022. Blueberries are protagonists of this explosion, as they are protagonists in Ser.mac’s automation vision and at Macfrut 2023 in Rimini.
“Experts put the global consumption of blueberries at 2 million tons within the next ten years, with a purchase in the European area alone of 860 grams per head before 2026,” a Macfrut note reports. “To say that the future will be under the sign of the blueberry is to tell how an almost niche product has become a consumption trend on the tables of half the world in just a few years.

For years already, the Ser.mac team has sensed the potential of small fruits and has been working to identify automation technologies suitable for processing this category of products. In fact, thanks to HDiA Artificial Intelligence, Ser.mac’s sorters are also able to sort blueberries, cherries, dates and larger fruits such as apples and pears up to watermelons, analyzing all their quality parameters by classifying their internal and external characteristics, color, weight and diameter, ensuring greater efficiency and a qualitatively better result, with cost optimization and waste reduction.
At Macfrut 2023 in Rimini, the HDiA system, along with many other solutions for innovation in the fruit and vegetable sector, will be on display at Stand 78 – Hall B3 at the Rimini Expo Centre.
